Palmdale residents who wish to report cases of graffiti and other cases of community blight now have a more efficient way of contacting authorities. A new Palmdale Pride Line allows residents to refer to just one telephone number, 94-PRIDE (947-7433), instead of the previous method involving up to five different numbers to report blight, out-of-service traffic signals and anonymous crime tips.

The hotline number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“When a person dials one number, 94-PRIDE, they will have a menu choice of five items,” said John Mylnar, Palmdale commutations manager. “They can select the menu item they wish to contact, or they will hear the phone number for City Hall that they may call during regular business hours.”

An anonymous Crime Tip hotline number connected to the Palmdale Sheriff’s station (661) 272-2414 is also in operation. Mylnar said this number is for any ongoing incidents that residents may see and believe the Sheriff’s department should be aware of. “If anyone sees a crime in progress or suspicious activity, they should call the Sheriff’s main number at (661) 272-2400. If it is a life-threatening emergency, then they should call 911,” Mylnar said.

There is an after-hours emergency number, (661) 267-5338, which residents may refer to after 6 p.m. and before 7:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday and all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to report issues such as sewer overflows or roadway/right-of-way hazards of which the latter may include downed tree limbs, pot holes or broken sprinkler heads in city parks and landscaped areas.

The city of Palmdale and Waste Management offers a free smartphone app that allows residents to report problems such as illegal dumping, clogged sewer drains, or broken water mains; residents can also receive alerts regarding trash/recycling collection days and notifications for street sweeping.

For more details call (661) 267-5115.
