Special enrollment for healthcare

HealthCare.gov is promoting a special opportunity to obtain healthcare coverage during the recess between enrollment periods for Covered California. You can enroll in a healthcare plan, if you have life changes such as getting married, having a baby, losing other coverage or if you have moved.

Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides coverage to families with limited income. If you qualify, you can enroll immediately in a marketplace health plan outside the annual open enrollment period. These programs cover millions of individuals and families with limited incomes and disabilities. If you know you qualify for a special enrollment period or Medicaid/CHIP, you can apply to update your application as soon as possible. Further, if you qualify for Medicaid, you are eligible for benefits through HealthCare.gov.

The next enrollment date for Covered California will begin on Nov. 1. Until then, individuals and families (including self-employed persons) should call (800) 318-2596 or go to HealthCare.gov for more information.
