Music is in the air at Compton High School and all Compton students, grades 7 to 12, are encouraged to sign up for this free program at Compton High School, 601 Acacia St.

Led by Compton High music director Anthony Ransfer, the program offers instruction at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in woodwinds, percussion, piano, and brass instruments during classes held Monday through Thursday. Courses take place from 8 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. The program ends July 29.

“I want our musically inclined students to take this opportunity to either learn a new instrument or improve their skills,” said Ransfer. “Music enriches and educates students. It empowers children to use their creativity but is also a great tool for learning important math skills.”

Parents or guardians interested in signing up their children for the free Summer Music Program can contact Ransfer at (310) 635-3881 or via email at aransfer@compton.k12.ca.us. Students can also enroll in person at Compton High School.
