Price High School held a special ceremony before their game last week against Gahr high school, where they honored one of the best players to ever come through their program. Allen Crabbe’s No. 23 jersey was retired in the gym where he dominated high school basketball, and at a school that was founded by his grandfather, Frederick K.C. Price.

Crabbe led Price to the State Division IV championship in 2010, and he racked up numerous post seasons awards, including the title as Gatorade Player of the Year for California, Mr. Basketball for the state, a Parade All-American, and The Times’ Player of the Year.

Crabbe, a 6’6” shooting guard, earned a college scholarship to California, where he was named the PAC-12 Freshman of the Year. After his sophomore season, he was named first team All-Pacific-12 Conference. After his junior year, he was voted the Pac-12 Player of the Year, and he was named All-American.

After leaving Cal, Crabbe was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013, and traded on draft night to the Portland Trail Blazers. After spending his first professional season in the D-League, he was inserted into the Trail Blazers starting lineup after an injury to another player. In his first stint in the NBA, he has quickly caught on and he has earned the coaching staff’s trust.

Price defeated Gahr that night, and their record currently is 15-2.
