For all the hip hop heads out there, a special mobile studio is rolling through the streets of Los Angeles, as Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey is looking for the next hip hop phenom.
The Jack’N for Beats: We Got Bars Tour allows aspiring MC’s, ages 21 and over, to step into the mobile studio and drop 16-bars over a pre-recorded track of their choice. Submissions will be evaluated by judges, who will then select the top-50 to be uploaded to www.jacknforbeats.com for public views and shares. Following two weeks of public voting, the top-10 semi-finalists will perform live on stage at the finale event in front of a panel of judges, consisting of music industry executives and influencers. The hottest MC will be crowned winner and take home $5,000.
The tour was piloted in Chicago following the launch of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey in 2011 and has since traveled to Oakland, Houston, and St. Louis. Winners have toured with Jack Daniel’s and have been given the opportunity to network with record label executives and other individuals in the entertainment industry.
This program is similar to a Star Search or American Idol in that it goes beyond the cash prize. It presents an opportunity for artists to get exposure and maybe their big break.
“There’s definitely a lot of talent out here waiting to be discovered,” said AJ Ahmed, Jack’N for Beats A&R and former Violator A&R. “This program offers a lot more to the winners than the prize money.”
