As usual in the City Section’s Division I playoffs, the top eight seeds cruised into the second round. With the bottom eight seeds out of the way, the action now begins.

The two big games are Crenshaw at Carson and Dorsey at Narbonne. These are four of the power programs in the City Section, with Crenshaw and Narbonne winning every City title over the past five years. Carson and Dorsey have not been too far behind.

Last week all of these teams breezed through the first round. Crenshaw defeated Venice 60-24, Dorsey defeated Canoga Park 49-7, Narbonne defeated South East 65-0, and Carson defeated Taft 42-14.

The winner of the Crenshaw/Carson game will most likely meet San Pedro, who is the top seed, unless Arleta can pull the upset. The winner of the Dorsey/Narbonne game will most likely face Garfield, the No. 2 seed, unless Birmingham can pull the upset.

In Division II and III, top seeded Hamilton and Los Angeles are still on the march for a City Section championship.  Hamilton faces Lincoln, and Los Angeles will have a tough matchup against View Park.

Quarterfinals will be Friday at 7 p.m.
