Oldest living member of FAME celebrates her 104th birthday

Members of First AME Church of Los Angeles joined family and friends of Rosie Tilles who celebrated her 104th birthday on Saturday at the Saint John of God Retirement and Care Centerin Los Angeles. She was joined by her two friends who are both centenarians Ruby Norman, age 103, and Eleanor Waller, age 102.

The women served the church and the Los Angeles community together as members of the church’s Women’s Missionary Society for many decades.

Among the special guests at the celebration were Reverend Cecil L. Chip Murray who served as their pastor for 27 years along with the current Pastor J. Edgar Boyd.

The program included a special dance tribute by the Devine Praise Dancers, special greeting letter from President Barack Obama, congratulatory words from fellow centenarians and community leaders, and was also attended by former Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca  who presented a special gift from he and his wife, Carol.
