President Barack Obama will visit Los Angeles Trade Technical College today in the only non-fundraising event of his two-day visit to the southland. He is expected to speak on the “importance of job-driven skills training, particularly for fast-growing sectors such as health care,” according to a White House statement.

A number of groups—describing themselves as “pro-immigration” as well as “pro-Palestinian” activists—said yesterday they will rally outside the downtown vocational college to call on the President to end deportations of immigrants in the country without legal permission, and request that he instruct Israel to end its attacks on the Palestinians and advocate for the creation of a Palestinian state.

Obama is also scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion today with about 30 persons at the Los Angeles home of Michael Rapino, CEO of the concert promotion firm Live Nation. Obama attended a $1,000-per-plate fundraiser yesterday in Hancock Park at the home of television writer/producer Shonda Rhimes; one of the co-chairs of the dinner was actress Kerry Washington of “Scandal.”

Today’s speech will mark Obama’s final stop on a three-day fundraising visit to the West Coast.
