Edison raises income limits

Several programs operated by Southern California Edison that enable customers to pay lower rates have changed the income eligibility requirements in a way that will allow more people to receive the discounted service.

The changes for the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) and the Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA)  programs went into effect June 1 and can save customers as much as 30 percent on the bill. For additional information, call (800) 655-4555.

The new income guidelines are as follows:

Persons per household       CARE            FERA

1-2             up to $31,460       not eligible

3               up to $39,580       $39,581-49,475

4               up $47,700      $47,701-59,625

5               up to $55,820       $55,821-69,775

6               up to $63,940       $63,941-79,925

7               up to $72,060       $72,061-90,075

8               up to $80,180       $80,181-100,225

each additional person      $8,120          $8,120-10,150
