L.A. County Gasoline Price Rises

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose to its highest amount since Oct. 6 today,

increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.871.

The average price has risen 25 of the past 26 days and is 8.3 cents more than one week ago and 25.8 cents higher than one month ago but 45.2 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has risen 26.4 cents over the past 26 days, including

a half-cent on Monday.

The Orange County average price rose to its highest amount since Oct. 3 today, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $3.869. It has risen 20 consecutive

days and is 7.8 cents more than one week ago and 26.7 cents higher than one month ago but 44.3 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has risen 24.8 cents over the past 20 days, including two-tenths of a cent on Monday.

The rising prices are the result of the annual refinery maintenance season when supplies of winter blend gasoline drop as refineries start production of the more expensive summer blend, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California.
