The city of Palmdale continues its “Season of Service” program with a “Beds, Paths & Beyond” community garden project on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the City’s Yucca Neighborhood House, located at East Ave. Q-3 in Palmdale.
“We’re inviting residents to work side by side with city staff and neighbors to create our first community garden,” said Community Programs Supervisor Trish Jones.
Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must complete a Release of Liability (available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or at event registration). Participants are requested to wear close-toed shoes and be prepared/able to walk over uneven terrain, and use work gloves and sun protection. Water will be provided. Verification of service hours is available.
Palmdale’s “Season of Service” is designed to offer service projects for residents to join, and includes a monthly service day as well as information for community members to develop their own projects. It is presented in continual recognition and celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Other projects will include:

Help prepare this amazing park for a summer of visitors, work side by side with friends and neighbors among real-life examples of our rich aviation history. Participants must be age 12 or older for this event.

Global Youth Service Day–April 19
Youth, families and the young at heart are invited to participate in a park beautification at one of Palmdale’s most beloved parks.

Sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, join residents in a makeover of this neighborhood jewel.
Location: Desert Sands Park, 39117 3rd Street East, Palmdale
“We encourage residents to participate in one or all of these opportunities to help make Palmdale an even better place to call home,” Jones stated. “As Dr. King once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” We have an opportunity to serve our neighbors by and build value in our community through events such as these.”
