The Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) takes center stage today so make sure to visit the PAFF website at www.paff.org, get all the information you need regarding screening times, special events, activities and more.
The Pan African Film & Arts Festival will take place at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. All screenings except “Centerpiece” will take place at the Rave Cinemas 15 Baldwin Hills, which is located on the plaza property. PAFF Special Presentations include, “An Evening with Charles Dutton.” Join Dutton as he speaks candidly to the audience about his life and work in Hollywood and the on the stage, Saturday, Feb. 8, 7:45 p.m. Tickets cost $20.
Ise Lye’s “Funny Truths” takes a bite out of popular culture. Lye is a nationally renowned artist and social commentator who will present an on point and hilarious live performance lecture addressing popular culture, current events, and the way we live our lives in the age of smart phones, social media, and 10 pieces of chicken for $1. Ise Lye’s “Funny Truths” takes place Feb. 14, at 9:15 p.m. Tickets cost $20.
The Spoken Word Fest features the best spoken word artists and poets nationwide. Each year PAFF brings forth a range of artists that are sure to have your mind, body and spirits lifted!
PAFF is particularly proud to present Lil Mama. She received rave reviews for her star-making turn as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez in VH1’s biopic “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story,” which chronicles the rise of the best-selling, Grammy Award-winning R&B girls group of all time.
In 2007 and 2008, Lil Mama nabbed the Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer Song and Choice Rap/Hip-Hop Track for her hit singles “Lip Gloss” and “Shawty Get Loose,” respectively. Audiences also know her as a judge for seven seasons on MTV’s popular dance competition show “America’s Best Dance Crew.”
With the theme of “Music in the Rhymes,” the event will feature some of the best poets and spoken-word artists from around the country, showcasing their best spits and rhymes. Spoken Word Fest will be held during the run of the festival on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m., located at the Bridge in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles.
Another PAFF tradition is the Improv Comedy Show, PAFF LOL! The lineup will showcase some of the best improv and sketch comedians in town. Lineup includes: RonG, Donte Barrett, Eric Alegria Union, Reggie Flanory, RT Steckel, Zainab Johnson and Simone Shephard.

This year a new category was added: The New Media Fest. This portion of the festival will highlight web series and introduce yet-to-be-seen TV pilots.
