A Palmdale man was arrested January 16 after sheriff’s detectives conducting a probation search of his home found ingredients for making methamphetamine and bombs, a sergeant said.

Palmdale Operation Safe Streets detectives were looking for evidence of another crime committed by Michael Debinion, 25, who is on felony probation, when they searched his home in the 37100 block of Julian Lane at 10 a.m., said Sgt. Carmen Arballo of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

“They found what appeared to be homemade explosives,” Arballo said.

Detectives from the Arson/Explosives Detail and FBI special bomb tech personnel searched the garage and “located the requisites for the manufacture of methamphetamine, as well as those for the manufacture of destructive devices,” Arballo said.

The sheriff’s department Hazardous Materials Unit assisted the other agencies in dealing with the chemicals, she said.

Debinion was arrested for suspicion of possession of a gun as a felon, Arballo said.

“He also has pending charges of possession of bomb making materials and possession of methamphetamine,” Arballo said.

Debinion was booked at the sheriff’s Palmdale Station and was being held there in lieu of $35,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Antelope Valley Superior Court today.
