The Forum, once home to the Lakers and Kings and a storied concert venue, reopened last night after undergoing a $100 million renovation, with the first of six planned performances by The Eagles.
Anticipation has been building for the Forum’s rebirth and the Eagles concert series, with the round roof of the venue being recently turned into a rotating replica of the band’s “Hotel California” album. The band will perform Friday and Saturday, then return for three more shows on Feb. 22, 24 and 25.
Justin Timberlake’s “20/20 Experience World Tour” will come to the venue Monday.
Alejandra Guzman brings her “La Guzman 1F Tour” to the venue Feb. 1, Imagine Dragons’”Into the Night Tour” hits Feb. 14 and “Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together” arrives Feb. 15.
The Madison Square Garden Co. acquired the historic venue in June 2012 for $23.5 million. Last year, the company announced plans for a $100 million renovation.
Company executives said the arena will be the largest indoor performance venue in the country, with a rebuilt lower bowl and “sky deck” that will allow for crowds ranging from 8,000 up to 17,500. An 8,000-square-foot concession area on the event floor is designed behind a tinted glass wall, while a 40,000-square-foot outdoor terrace will offer upgraded food and beverage amenities.
