The Lancaster Corporate Challenge (LCC) is an Olympic-style competition which promotes team building, fitness and fun. The challenge was developed by the city’s Wellness Committee as a way to create a community movement towards a healthy lifestyle, a factor known to help reduce healthcare costs and increase quality of life.

The LCC is open to all Antelope Valley organizations, such as businesses, schools, and churches. The event provides an opportunity for groups to participate in unifying and morale-building activities rooted in the spirit of friendly competition.

“The Lancaster Corporate Challenge is a great way to encourage good health, fitness and camaraderie among employees and co-workers; whether your team competes in all the events or just a few,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “The continuation of this challenge will help to demonstrate and perpetuate a culture of fitness in the city of Lancaster.”

The second annual Lancaster Corporate Challenge takes place from February 22, through June 7, 2014. The LLC will feature the following competitions: 5k Run/Walk and opening ceremony, basketball, bowling, darts, 8-ball billiards, golf, horseshoes, indoor volleyball, kickball, scavenger hunt, softball, Texas Hold’em, ultimate frisbee, a triathlon, and the LCC Chili Cook-Off and closing ceremony. Participants are also encouraged to participate in a blood drive that will take place during the competition period.

Local businesses, schools, churches and other community organizations are encouraged to create teams and sign up for several, or all of the challenge events. Smaller organizations can join with others to create full teams if they lack the required number of players. Teams will accumulate points throughout the challenge. The team with the most points at the end of the series will receive the 2014 Challenge Cup.

Team registration is open through Monday, Dec. 23. It is not too late to volunteer to help run the events or sign up as a sponsor.

Bronze, silver and gold level sponsorship opportunities are available and sponsors receive a variety of benefits.

The Lancaster Corporate Challenge not only includes physical activities, but also other contests. The Fit to Draw Design Contest is open to all students from grades 6-12 grade in the Antelope Valley. The contest asks for a design that incorporates sports, physical fitness, and teamwork. The winning design may be used on promotional material for the 2015 LCC.

All 2014 Lancaster Corporate Challenge participations are invited to enter 10 of their best images captured during the opening ceremony and event competitions into a photo contest.
