A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that helps solve the hit-and-run death of a Los Angeles County probation officer killed in the Boyle Heights area while riding his motorcycle home from work at Eastlake Juvenile Hall.

Kenneth Hamilton, 54, of Fountain Valley, died at the scene of the 5:50 a.m. crash on Oct. 28 at Soto Street and Lancaster Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a gray or silver-colored 1996-2000 model Honda Civic DX. Police said the motorcycle and the car were going the same way, and the Honda driver changed lanes and struck Hamilton, sending him into a light pole.

The reward was offered by the Los Angeles City Council for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run suspect.

People with more information about the case were urged to call LAPD Detective Michael Kaden at (213) 972-1837, or Officer R. Cortez at (213) 972-1825. Tipsters may also call (877) LAPD-247.
