A suspect was killed and two deputies suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in a deputy-involved shooting in Inglewood this morning, authorities said.

The shooting happened just after midnight in the 3900 block of West Century Boulevard, across from Hollywood Park near South Prairie Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Kim Manatt.

A male suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital while two other suspects, a male and a female, were detained, she said.

One deputy was treated by paramedics at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital, Manatt said.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, she said.

The more seriously wounded deputy, a woman, was struck in the upper leg and may have gotten a lucky break when the bullet struck her phone charger, sheriff’s officials told reporters at the scene.

The other deputy, a man, suffered a graze wound, according to broadcast reports.

It was unclear why the deputies were involved in a shooting in Inglewood, which has its own police department.
