The Edwards Air Force Base Chapel, 305 E. Popson Ave., is sponsoring a “Move the Food” event Nov. 1. The food giveaway will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until the food is gone.
The event will be held in the Chapel 1 Annex.
The chapel will hand out one bag of food per family of four to anyone who shows up. Those affected by the furloughs, government shut down, or recession, are particularly invited to come.
The event is open to all military, Department of Defense civilians, and contractors.
If you would like to supply food for this effort, the list of items below is what the chapel needs most. Your donations can be dropped off at the Chapel 2 main office during regular duty hours.
Items needed most: Canned corn, green beans, mixed vegetables, chili pasta, fruit, meat, soups, and beans; muffin mixes, rice, spaghetti sauce, Spaghetti ‘O’s, Ramen noodles, mac and cheese, dry cereal, baby formula/food, dry milk; as well as dry goods such as diapers, toilet paper, and feminine hygiene products.
