The City of Santa Clarita, in partnership with Spirit Properties, will host a groundbreaking event on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. for the Golden Valley Road Bike Trail extension project on the northeast corner of Golden Valley Road and Centre Pointe Parkway. Residents interested in attending the event should RSVP by Monday, October 14, to Corrina Knudson at (661) 255-4939 or by email at cknudson@santa-clarita.com.

The project will expand the trail approximately four miles from River Village in Saugus to State Route 14, providing convenient access to the south side of Soledad Canyon Road at Golden Triangle and Ruether Avenue, the Sports Complex, and the business center in Golden Valley.  Landscaping enhancements include installation of a tan fence along the trail and around large oak trees within the area.

“The City has already made progress toward integrating biking and walking in everyday living with an extensive network of more than 70 miles of paved, off-street bike paths,” commented Mayor Bob Kellar.  “We continue to work with developers, like Spirit Properties, to expand paths and develop new routes that allow increased opportunities for residents and visitors to walk, bike, and run throughout the community.”

The Golden Valley Road Bike Trail Extension project is part of the City of Santa Clarita’s commitment to providing non-motorized transportation options that support a positive and healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors.  The extension of bike trails also allows residents easy access to trails in addition to providing various recreational benefits.
