LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Cal Worthington, whose “Go See Cal” car commercials were a fixture of Southland television for decades, died at his Northern California ranch at the age of 92, the sheriff of Glenn County confirmed today.

Worthington collapsed at his sprawling Flying W ranch on Sunday afternoon and was pronounced dead in his home by paramedics, Sheriff Larry Jones said.

Authorities were notified of the medical emergency at 3:29 p.m. Sunday, he said, adding that emergency dispatchers directed Worthington family members on how to administer CPR. Resuscitation efforts  continued when paramedics from the volunteer Artois Fire Department arrived at Worthington’s home.

“The paramedics were unable to revive him,” Jones said, describing Worthington as a “fixture in the community for many, many years” who will be “sorely missed.”

An annual charity event organized by Worthington to aid a local hospital is scheduled for this weekend.
