Lois Hill Hale, longtime press secretary and district representative for Congresswoman Diane E. Watson, has died of an apparent heart attack.

She was 76.

The native of Detroit was believed to have been rehabilitating from back problems when she passed on Thursday, Aug. 8. An associate said she never knew Hale to suffer from heart problems.

A five-year member and former president of the Inglewood School board in 1992, Hale ran for the state’s 50th Assembly District as a write-in candidate, but lost. At that time she had worked eight years for Watson, who was then a state senator.

Funeral arrangements were pending.
