The Los Angeles International Airport will hold a social media contest inviting the public to submit unusual and creative ideas for the grand opening ceremony of the Antonio R. Villaraigosa Pavillion and south concourse boarding gates of phase one of the $1.5 million Tom Bradley International Terminal, and the deadline to submit ideas is Aug. 11.

Individuals and groups can email ideas to laxpr@lawa.org, and the winner will be announced on the multiple LAX social media sites and be used as the official grand opening ceremony for the new terminal.

The ideas must be cost-effective, creative and “out-of-the-box” and different from the standard ribbon-cutting ceremony using large scissors. The grand opening will happen in September 2013.

The winner(s) will also receive an LAX gift basket.
