PALMDALE, Calif. — Authorities today were seeking the public’s help in locating five assailants who robbed a man outside a 7-Eleven in Palmdale.

The robbery happened around 1:10 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of East Palmdale Boulevard, said Deputy Jodi Wolfe of the sheriff’s Palmdale Station.

The 19-year-old victim had exited the store and was riding away on a bicycle when one of the suspects asked to use his cellphone, Wolfe said.

When the man turned his bike around to comply with the request, another of the suspects walked up behind him and punched him in the neck, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground, she said.

The man was robbed of his cellphone, bicycle and hat and all five suspects fled east from the store, Wolfe said. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The suspects were described as black males between the ages of 16 and 28. All were between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed between 140 and 160 pounds. Anyone with information about the case or the assailants was urged to call sheriff’s investigators at (661) 272-2446.
