LAWNDALE, Calif. — Deputies with a fireworks suppression crew seized more than 200 pounds of illegal fireworks in Lawndale on the Fourth of July, a sheriff’s lieutenant said today.

The fireworks operation, including eight deputies in four patrol cars, operated out the South Los Angeles sheriff’s station/Lawndale Service Center, according to sheriff’s Lt. John Hocking.

The seized fireworks were turned over to the Los Angeles County Fire Department for disposal, according to Hocking. No information was made available about arrests, if any were made.
