R&B singer Chris Brown, who is still on probation for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna following a pre-Grammys party in 2009, was charged today with a pair of misdemeanors stemming from a minor traffic accident in the San Fernando Valley.

Brown, however, insisted on his Twitter page that he did nothing wrong.

According to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Brown was charged with one count each of hit-and-run and driving without a valid license. He was scheduled to be arraigned July 15 in Van Nuys.

The charges stem from a May 21 traffic accident, city attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan said.

According to various media reports, Brown rear-ended a Mercedes with his Range Rover near Toluca Lake. The singer stopped at the scene and exchanged information with the other driver, according to the reports.

The celebrity website TMZ.com reported, however, that Brown allegedly gave the other driver false insurance information, leading to the hit-and-run charge.

On his Twitter page, Brown called the charges “ridiculous.”

“It’s not a hit and run if u get out (of) the car, exchange information,” he wrote, noting that there was no damage to either vehicle.

“I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info.

She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene. She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures,” he wrote.

In February, Brown crashed a Porsche in Beverly Hills, claiming he lost control of the car while being pursued by paparazzi.

Meanwhile, police in Anaheim, were investigating a report that Brown allegedly assaulted a woman inside the Heat Ultra Lounge nightclub around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
