LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A Los Angeles man was charged today in the Memorial Day stabbing death of his girlfriend’s 11-year-old son.

Rineson Curtis Adams, 26, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court on one count each of murder and child abuse.

Adams allegedly used a knife to stab the boy, identified in the criminal complaint as “Jai L.”

The criminal complaint alleges that Adams has three prior felony convictions, including a burglary conviction in 1996 and two convictions for transportation and sale of a controlled substance in 1996 and 2008.

Adams faces up to 64 years to life in state prison if convicted, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
