LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Opening statements in the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial are set to begin Monday in a Los Angeles courtroom, a judge announced Tuesday.

A jury of six men and six women has been selected to hear the case brought by the late pop icon’s mother, Katherine Jackson, and three children against concert promoter AEG Live. They allege the promoter was liable in the singer’s death.

Jackson died two weeks before his “This Is It” comeback concerts, organized by AEG Live, were to have debuted in London in summer 2009.
