EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — A woman employee of a gourmet popcorn shop in El Segundo held a company executive at gunpoint for about three hours today before releasing him unharmed and surrendering.
Police were sent to Popcornopolis at 1301 E. El Segundo Blvd. about 8:20 a.m., El Segundo police Capt. Bob Turnbull said.
Officers learned that the woman was holding the company’s chief financial officer hostage, and police surrounded the building and began negotiating with her, Turnbull said.
The man was released unharmed about three hours afterward, and the woman surrendered a few minutes later, Turnbull said.
