The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) will host its annual economic awards dinner on April 5, beginning with a 5:30 p.m. reception followed by the meal at 7 p.m. and a post reception at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at LA Live, 900 W. Olympic Blvd., in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets for the dinner are $300 for members and $500 for others, and March 29 is the deadline to make reservations. Tickets can be purchased by calling GLAAACC’s office at (323) 292-1297 or by visiting www.glaaacc.org.

The theme of the event is “20 years of Advocating, Educating and Creating Business Opportunities,” and the keynote speaker is U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce, Manufacturing and Services Nicole Y. Lamb-Hale.

Actress Vivica A. Fox (“Independence Day,” “Soul Food,” “Set it off”) will serve as the mistress of ceremonies.

Assistant Secretary Lamb-Hale’s talk will focus on President Barack Obama’s U.S. manufacturing and services initiatives and the unprecedented amount of exporting opportunities available for small businesses.

In addition to Assistant Secretary Lamb-Hale, GLAAACC will honor individuals, majority corporations and African American businesses in a variety of categories.
