Django, Ted lead MTV Movie Awards nods

Awards season may be over but acclaimed films like “Django Unchained” and “Silver Linings Playbook” are still racking up nominations.

“Django” leads this year’s nominees for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, along with Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted.” Both movies have seven nominations each.

“Django,” which earned Oscars for actor Christoph Waltz and screenwriter/director Quentin Tarantino, will compete with “Ted” for Movie of the Year.

Awards season darling “Silver Linings Playbook,” which received six MTV Movie Award nods overall, is also nominated in that category.

Other films like “The Avengers,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Perks of Being A Wallflower” and “Pitch Perfect” didn’t get a ton of recognition on the awards circuit but are leaders with MTV. “Dark Knight Rises” is nominated for five awards, including Movie of the Year, a category that also highlights “The Avengers.”

Joss Whedon’s box office smash is nominated for four awards overall, as are “Perks” and “Pitch Perfect.”

Interestingly enough, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” only received a single nomination, which goes to Taylor Lautner for best shirtless performance. The actor faces heady competition in that category – which is new for 2013 – as Channing Tatum in “Magic Mike,” Seth MacFarlane as the shirtless teddy bear in “Ted,” Daniel Craig in “Skyfall” and Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight Rises” are also nominated.

Fans can vote for their favorite films and performance at MovieAwards.MTV.com until April 13. The 2013 MTV Movie Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET.
