LOS ANGELES, Calif.–A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy pleaded not guilty today to charges that he assaulted two jail inmates and falsified police reports.

Jermaine W. Jackson, 35, is charged with two counts each of assault likely to produce great bodily injury, assault by a public officer and false report by a police officer.

One of the assaults allegedly occurred Dec. 31, 2009, at the Compton Courthouse lockup, while the other allegedly occurred Dec. 25, 2010, at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.

Jackson is under suspension.

He is free on bail and is due back in Los Angeles Superior Court March 11, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.
