A suspected drunk driver slammed his car into a police cruiser in Inglewood today, slightly injuring an officer, and was taken into custody, police said.
Police were sent to the intersection of Prairie and Florence avenues at 1:16 a.m. to investigate a crash in which a pickup truck went through a fence and overturned on railroad tracks, said Inglewood police Sgt. Tyran Bailous, adding no one was hurt in that accident.
About five minutes later, the suspect crashed into one of two police at the scene, and an officer in the vehicle suffered a slight laceration to an arm, Bailous said. He was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics, he said.
Neither the suspected drunk driver nor other officers were hurt, Bailous said. The motorist whose car hit the police cruiser was arrested by a California Highway Patrol officer on suspicion of DUI, he said.
