EL SEGUNDO, Calif.–A man recently released from state prison was arrested today in El Segundo for allegedly having money and cellphones which had just been stolen from two vehicles.

Police were called to the 700 block of Washington Street regarding a suspect walking and acting suspiciously. About an hour later, Jesse T. Stephens, 24, was located in the 1800 block of East El Segundo Boulevard with the money and cellphones.

This is at least the second arrest in El Segundo in four days involving someone recently released from state prison or on probation.

An officer was patrolling Saturday around a business in the 2300 block of Utah Avenue that had recently been burglarized. He interrupted a commercial robbery and eventually four suspects were arrested–Elisa M. Vera, 48, Matt R. Applegate, 35, Kirk S. Rimert, 46, and Jeffrey L. Ricks, 41.

Three of the suspects were on probation for a variety of felony offenses, and all had extensive criminal records.
