STUDIO CITY, Calif.–Actor and rapper LL Cool J detained a burglary suspect in his Studio City area home today until police arrived and took the man into custody.

Officers went to the residence in the 12000 block of Blairwood Drive at 12:30 a.m., when a female called to report there was an “intruder in the house,” said Los Angeles police Officer Tenesha Dobine of the Media Relations office.

Police arrested the suspect, apparently a transient in his 50s, whose name was not immediately released. The Los Angeles Times reported that the man suffered a broken nose and jaw.

“Of all the houses that guy could have picked, LL Cool J’s was probably not his best choice,” neighbor Robbie Davis told CBS2.

According to TMZ.com , the “NCIS: Los Angeles” star “heard a commotion downstairs, went to check it out and found the intruder.” Sources told TMZ that the suspect tripped the alarm system.

A representative of LL Cool J released a statement:
“LL Cool J and his family are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern. As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter.”
