LOS ANGELES, Calif.–The Board of Supervisors today renewed a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever fatally shot an Army veteran in Lancaster.

Supervisor Michael Antonovich recommended that the reward–set to expire Aug. 14–be extended for at least another 90 days.

On April 21, former Sgt. Nathen Taylor, 26, was shot several times in the chest while sitting in his parked vehicle outside his brother’s house in Lancaster. Taylor, who had served three tours of duty with the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq and Afghanistan, died at a hospital.

The victim had just left a party at his brother’s house because he didn’t like being around people who had been drinking too much, according to his sibling, who heard the shots and ran out to find Taylor wounded.

Taylor had no record of gang affiliation, police said, and family members wondered whether the attack had been a case of mistaken identity.

Taylor was taking computer and engineering classes at Antelope Valley College and was engaged to be married. He is survived by his 9-year-old daughter.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Garcia or Detective Mitch Robison at (323) 890-5500.
