The SouthBay Pavilion in Carson is hosting its third annual Back-to-School Health Fair from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, following its one year Zumba fitness anniversary party from 8:30-10 a.m.
The SouthBay Pavilion is located at 20700 Avalon Blvd. in Carson.
Due to the increase in obesity rates, the pavilion’s “Mall Power” campaign, launched in 2011, focuses on helping the community become more health conscious, and includes such events such as health fairs, a weekly farmer’s market, Zumba Saturdays, Salsa Mondays and Kids Club Thursdays.
The one-year Zumba fitness anniversary will kickoff with 100-plus attendees.
The health fair will feature free screenings for scoliosis, vision, glucose and orthotic foot scan.
Financial screenings and a $5 body composition test will also be offered.
Among the groups joining the health fair are the California Department of Insurance, the Gardena-Carson YMCA, Yellow Cab, Herbalife, Zumba Fitness Instructors, FFSI Insurance Services, Planned Parenthood and Fame Health Services.
