The California Homeowner Bill of Rights, sponsored by Attorney General Kamala D. Harris, was signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr.
According to the attorney general’s office, “the California Homeowner Bill of Rights will bring fairness, accountability and transparency to the state’s mortgage and foreclosure process by restricting the practice of ‘dual tracking,’ requiring a mortgage lender to assign a reliable point of contact for borrowers, and imposing civil penalties on the robo-signing of mortgage and foreclosure documents.

The bill was signed at 10 a.m. in the Ronald Reagan State Building auditorium at 300 S. Spring St., Los Angeles., and at 2 p.m. in the State Building in San Francisco.
