LOS ANGELES, Calif.–The victim of a fatal shooting in South Los Angeles was a 15-year-old boy whose killer remains at large today, police reported.
Eddie Mitchell was shot about 2 a.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of West Manchester Avenue and died about an hour later at a hospital, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The teen was gunned down about 15 minutes after a man was shot and wounded at Manchester and Halldale avenues, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
It was the second shooting to claim the life of a teenager in the South Los Angeles area within a several-hour period.
About 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, a shooting at 97th Street and Normandie Avenue left 14-year-old Unique Russell dead and a 12-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man wounded.
The three victims were among a group of people gathered in front of a residence to mark the Fourth of July when the suspects–described only as males–approached them and opened fire, the sheriff’s department reported.
There have been no arrests in that case, either.
