The Los Angeles Unified School District’s Board of Education voted Tuesday to re-elect Mónica García as president for the 2012-13 school year, an unprecedented sixth consecutive term.
García has served as president since 2007, a year after she was first elected to the board.

“What an honor, it is, to represent the children of Los Angeles as we welcome the graduating class of 2013 and the incoming class that will graduate in 2025,” García said.

Board member Tamar Galatzan was appointed vice president for the 2012-13 school year.
