How does your garden grow?

Greens, squash, corn, peas, cabbage and watermelon are just some of the fruits and vegetables children and their parents were able to see in their natural habitat during a tour of the Greater Watts Community Garden this weekend. Sponsored by the Best StartLA First 5 LA programs, the goal of the day was to encourage families to eat fresh foods, like those grown by Frank Baxter, inset. In addition to garden tours, experts like Sylvia Drew Ivie gave cooking demonstrations using foods fresh from the 32-year-old Watts garden and children received kits that gave them information on how to create and monitor their own garden./OW photo by Nash Baker.
