Kennedy, died unexpectedly after a very short illness on May 9. He was 59.

Called “Big Mike” by family and friends, Kennedy was described as a tough guy who protected his seven sisters and two brothers from the rougher side of growing up in a poor, urban environment.

At the same time, he knew the Lord and remained faithful until the end.

In addition to taking care of family, Kennedy was known for working with seniors in the community.

This long-term dedication was also a key part of his working life in the city of Pasadena, where he spent 40 years. Most recently, Kennedy was part of the department of Public Works.

A devoted family man, Kennedy is survived by his wife Faye; his children Shanica Davis Robertson (Kevin), Shantell Marie Kennedy and Michael Kennedy Jr. (Erika); six grandchildren; his mother: Leola S. Kennedy and eight siblings: Geraldine Kennedy, Malcolm Kennedy (Elizabeth), Sharon Billingslea (Jack), Rosalinda Kennedy Spratling, Lena L. Kennedy, Elizabeth Ellis (Redell), John J. Kennedy, and Glenda Kennedy.
His father, Thomas Foster Kennedy, preceded him in death.
