L.A. City Council President Herb Wesson had the honor–or dishonor–of having his feet put to the fire at the American Diabetes Association’s annual Political Roast at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. A crowd of more than 900 attended and contributed over $500,000 to support the medical research efforts of the American Diabetes Association. Leading the roast were Wesson colleagues Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. Councilmember Eric Garcetti composed a song and was joined in singing by Councilmember Joe Buscaino. Others participants in March 22 event included Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Controller Wendy Greuel, Supervisor Gloria Molina and Councilmembers Dennis Zine and Ed Reyes. Comedian Michael Colyar served as master of ceremonies.
