Distinguished educator to be honored at CSULA

Noted principal at Tom Bradley Environmental Science & Humanities Magnet school in Leimert Park for the past 26 years, has been named one of three educational leaders to receive the California State University, Los Angeles, Distinguished Educator Award. The award will be presented at CSULA’s 22nd annual award dinner Friday in the campus Golden Eagle ballroom, following a reception a silent auction. Shepherd, a CSULA alumna, has worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District in various capacities, and has taught as a part-time instructor at CSULA. She is a recipient of the National Media Women’s Award for Courage, Compassion and Conviction, and the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award from the Interchange for Community Action. She is an active member of the Black Administrators, the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles, and Phi Delta Kappa honor society.
