Bishop Charles E. Blake, presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ Inc., as well as pastor of West Angeles COGIC, and Motown legend Smokey Robinson serve as hosts to more than 100 golfers at the Pacific Palms Resort at Industry Hills in the city of Industry.
The event for Save Africa’s Children exceeded last year’s fundraising effort and has reportedly raised $300,000 to date.
Among the golfers attending were musician Brian McKnight, actor Glynn Turman, record company executive Larkin Arnold, philanthropists James Castillo and Berry Gordy IV, Assemblyman Steven Bradford and developer Ken Lombard. The Save Africa’s Children Foundation is one of the few African American, non-governmental organizations feeding, clothing and providing medical assistance to orphaned African children. The tournament was held Tuesday.
