Inglewood standoff ends in murder suicide

INGLEWOOD (CNS) – A woman was shot to death in Inglewood today by a man who holed up in a business and killed himself, police said.

Inglewood police were sent to an address in the 200 block of North Market Street just before 11 a.m., and arriving officers were told a woman in a business there had been shot and the gunman was inside somewhere, Inglewood police Lt. Oscar Serrano said.

Police evacuated the business and found a woman with a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was declared dead at a hospital. Serrano said.

A special weapons team arrived and, about 1:30 p.m., they found a the suspect dead in a bathroom of a self-inflicted bullet wound, he said. The names of the people involved were unavailable.

A 17-year-old girl was shot to death in Inglewood today by a 26-year-old man who holed up in a business and killed himself, according to police.
A man and woman are dead after a murder-suicide at an optometrist’s office in Inglewood this afternoon, reports the Contra Costa Times.

The man, whose name hasn’t been released, allegedly walked up to the woman inside the Inglewood Optometric Center at about 11:00 a.m. this morning, pulled out a gun and shot her. He then retreated inside the business where he barricaded himself in until a SWAT team arrived, reports ABC News.

Police did not publicly comment on a motive.

Assistant Coroner Ed Winter said the names were not immediately released pending next of kin notification.

Authorities today identified a 17-year-old girl who was shot to death in Inglewood and the man who is suspected of killing her before committing suicide. The man was identified as Christopher McLeish, 26, of Inglewood, and the girl as Diana Garcia, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
