Youth basketball clinics to begin Monday

LOS ANGELES, Calif.–A series of 10 free basketball clinics for children ages 6 to 14 conducted by the Los Angeles Clippers will begin Monday at the Exposition Park Intergenerational Community Center.

There will be a maximum of 250 participants in each clinic–100 from the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks day camp program and summer basketball leagues and 150 who registered in advance through the Clippers website, www.clippers.com, or by telephone at (310) 862-6031.

All participants must register in advance and complete a waiver. No walk-ups will be allowed.

All clinics will begin at 12:30 p.m. and consist of a half-hour welcome and warm-up period, followed by 2 1/2 hours of drills on basketball fundamentals. All participants will receive a T-shirt, gift bag and books at the end of the clinic.

Aug. 8–Alpine Recreation Center, 817 Yale St.;
Aug. 9–Lake Street Community Center, 227 N. Lake St.;
Aug. 10–Valley Plaza Recreation Center, 12240 Archwood St.;
Aug. 11–Pecan Recreation Center, 145 S. Pecan St.; and
Aug. 12–Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, 5931 W. 18th St.
