A nonprofit organization, called Children of the Caribbean (COTC) kicked off the celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month Saturday with a 5K walk/run, shown starting above. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase textbooks, backpacks, school supplies and to pay for tests students must take that given by the Caribbean Examinations Council as part of COTC’s back-to-school initiative.
