LOS ANGELES, Calif.–“So You Think You Can Dance” co-creator and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe teamed up with retired talk-show host Larry King today to announce a national health campaign promoting dance as a way to combat obesity.

“Dance is an activity that is universally recognized and accessible across all socioeconomic levels, making it an ideal approach to promoting heart health,” King said.

The “Dance 4 Your Life!” campaign was created jointly by the Larry King Cardiac Foundation and Lythgoe’s Dizzy Feet Foundation. The campaign will be centered around National Dance Day, which was created last year by Lythgoe and will feature dance events at locations across the country at the end of July.

The campaign will promote a series of dance events and programs during July, leading up to National Dance Day.

Lythgoe called the effort “the first national campaign to reduce obesity through dance.”

Event organizers have partnered with Six Flags theme parks, where many of the dance-centered events are expected to be held.

More information on the campaign is available online at www.dance4yourlife.org.
