BURBANK, Calif.–Four rain forest activists, some dressed as Disney characters, were arrested at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank today after chaining themselves to the front gates and putting up a banner, police said.

The arrests were made at the studio entrance at 500 S. Buena Vista St. about 7 a.m., with all four booked on suspicion of trespassing, Burbank police Sgt. Sean Kelley said.

They were identified as:
Jennifer Binstock, 29, of San Francisco, Christopher Toomey, 52, of Redondo Beach, Blake Hodges, 26, of Irvine, and Alexia Dickason, 27, of Los Angeles.

There was no immediate comment from Disney officials.

Kelley said a banner was put over a Disney sign, and security guards held the activists for police.

The sign, placed just below “Disney” on the gate, read: “Disney: Destroying Indonesia’s Rainforests.”

The protesters, members of the Rainforest Action Network, were unhappy with Disney’s use of paper products in children’s books that supposedly come from endangered rain forests in Indonesia, according to the RAN website.
