OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) is a Los Angeles-based group of rappers and producers started back in 2007-08 with rap members Tyler The Creator, Hodgy Beats, and Casey Veggies. The producers were Tyler, Left Brain, and Matt Martians, also known as The Super 3.

Since then, Casey is no longer a part of the group but is still affiliated with the members.

The most recent set of members added are Domo Genesis, Mike G, Jasper Dolphin, Syd Bennett (the only female in the immediate group and a producer) her brother Taco Bennett, and the youngest rapper Earl Sweatshirt. These members make up OFWGKTA.

I had the privilege of seeing them perform at their first show in Los Angeles that was open to all ages and held at The Echo in Hollywood. No tickets were sold at the door officially, but people in line had extra tickets and were trying to get their hustle on with anyone who did not buy a ticket ahead of time.

Inside the club, there was a table where people were selling Earl Shirts that said “Missing. Have You Seen Me?” Earl was not at the show. Unfortunately, he was away in Utah (rumored to be in boarding school.)

Vince Staples, a member of Lifestyle Art Society which was started by Syd Tha Kyd herself, and Matt Martians, was behind the counter.

Peanut Butter Wolf (a big name in the underground Hip Hop world and the founder of Stones Throw Records) was DJing a set before the show to get the crowd hype and ready for Odd Future.

Tyler and Hodgy started off with their signature song “Sandwiches.” They started the beat, first with the synthesizer, and then some extra bass that Tyler added in. It sounded like a Hip Hop horror flick, and the bass was so loud I could feel it vibrating through my whole body.

When Tyler came on, the crowd went wild, screaming every lyric to his verse and it got so hype that he jumped off the stage and into the crowd, exciting everyone as the audience proceeded to shout the chorus, “Wolf Gang, Wolf Gang, Wolf Gang, Wolf Gang, it’s the …”

The group’s stage presence was amazing, and the music was on point as always. After a few more mosh pits, and some old school Odd Future songs, the end of the show arrived, but not before the group played missing member Earl’s signature song; this caused the crowd to rush the stage screaming “Free Earl!” for one last hoorah.
